Update on Can

Jul 29, 2023

Bombardier Recreational Products provided a brief update on its upcoming Can-Am electric motorcycles, the Pulse roadster and Origin dual-sport. Both models are still undergoing testing while construction is underway for a new plant in Querétaro, Mexico, which will produce the electric bikes. Can-Am is aiming to launch Origin and Pulse "before the end of 2024", with final specs and pre-orders expected next summer. Until then, here are some fresh new photos of the prototypes.

Mister Win, please take a moment to discover EROI.

At the moment, fossil fuels are great EROI, but they will get scarce, and eventually not be worth using. So far, nobody is making ethanol with an EROI with something approaching sustainability.

Might I recommend the US attempt to fund a Pan-American electric rail to the vast deposits of Bolivia and Chile powered by US designed smr nuclear. Make the American Hemisphere Great (for the first time)!

The Salton Sea area, of all places, is apparently going to be to Lithium extraction what Saudi Arabia is to oil. This development really is perfect, as the Salton Sea area is in America and it is already a complete economic and environmental wasteland. Sorry oppressed 3rd world kids, you are probably going to be mostly "rendered redundant" once this fully gets online.

This still leaves the matter of the American power grid, which is about on par with the rest of our infrastructure. Energy doesn't magically appear just because we want it to. Trillions and decades are needed to get the power generation and especially distribution network up to speed to handle a significant migration to EVs.
